A plane has performed a crash landing on the R44 in Stellenbosch, forcing motorists to duck and dive out of harm’s way.

The light aircraft had to bring itself down near Winery Road on Wednesday. Miraculously, no-one was killed as a result of the emergency landing and motorists have sensibly been requested to avoid the area.

In one terrifying clip, the plane can be seen heading directly towards oncoming traffic. Motorist were able to pull over to the side of the road, clearing the path for a crash landing.

Upon landing, the aircraft suffered some substantial damage, but the two pilots were able to exit the cockpit. The crash landing was immediately attended to by emergency services, many of whom arrived at the scene just moments after touchdown.

This motorist managed to capture the plane’s approach on film, while taking evasive action
