The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued several weather warnings as the expected cut-off low system will develop on Wednesday, 8 February.

The SAWS issued a yellow level 2 weather warning for severe thunderstorms.
This is expected to result in localised flooding and damage to settlements and property.
Areas affected include the Free State, eastern and northern parts of the Northern Cape and the North West, excluding the north-eastern parts.

Additionally, similar stormy conditions are expected to occur over the following areas:
For disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of bridges, roads, and settlements, the SAWS issued an orange level 5 weather warning.
This is for the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and the south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Regular maintenance such as yard upkeep, gutter cleaning, and tree trimming will help you stay ahead of the storm.
Make sure your insurance covers storm damage, and have a plan in case of emergency.
Keep an emergency kit with supplies for 3 days in an easily accessible location.
