Get your coins ready. South Africa’s favourite low-cost airline, FlySafair, is selling tickets for R9 as part of its 2023 mega-sale!

This year, flights will be taking off for just R9! The 2023 theme has been dubbed “The Lucky R9 Sale”.
The annual gimmick gives customers the chance to buy flight tickets to “all major destinations in South Africa” from as low as R9 ($0.49) per ticket.
Initially, people have deemed the annual sale as a fluke or rumour. But it’s real and FlySafair is now known for its annual flight ticket mega-sales dating back to 2015, one year after it launched its first flight where it sold 30,000 tickets at R1 each.
In 2016, the airline sold 15 000 tickets for R2. In 2018, the airline sold 30,000 tickets at R4 each and the following year it sold 45,000 tickets for R5 each.

The catch? No one knows when the sale will start. The only way to secure your tickets is to, quite literally, hound the airline’s website. To get ahead of the pack, FlySafair suggests downloading its app on Google Play or on the Apple App Store.
There’s not a lot that you can get for less than R10 these days. But now, you could be flying for nine bucks.
Keep an eye on the official FlySafair website and see updates and hints on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. All you have to do now is hurry up and wait.

When announcing the 2023 mega-sale, FlySafair released a short statement on its various social media channels.
“You guessed it; our Lucky R9 Sale is on its way. We can’t tell you exactly when, but we can say that you should be prepared so you don’t miss out! Luckily, we’ll be giving you a few tips over the next few days to get you ready. Keep your eyes glued to our social pages,” a statement released on Twitter read.
