Comrades couple to receive a DREAM wedding

It seems like a dream wedding is on the cards for the Comrades couple, with a little bit of help from generous South Africans…

South Africa fell in love with Pretoria-based runner Joseph Kagiso Ndlovu after he proposed to his girlfriend at the end of the Comrades Marathon on Sunday 28 August. Just days after the heartwarming viral moment, Jacaranda FM and some of their listeners have offered to throw a dream wedding for the couple in 2023.

JOSEPH KAGISO NDLOVU’S VIRAL COMRADES PROPOSAL

On 28 August, Joseph Kagiso Ndlovu was one of the thousands of people who took part in the annual Comrades Marathon between Pietermaritzburg and Durban. As he was nearing the finish line of the 90km race, Joseph pulled out a sign that said: “Prudence, will you marry me? Run 90 k for you”. 

During an interview with Martin Bester on Jacaranda FM, Joseph said his girlfriend Prudence had accepted his proposal. He also told the radio host that 28 August marked the 10th death anniversary of his late wife and he believed that it was time to move on and propose to his girlfriend. 

The two were dating for four months before Prudence accepted his proposal. 

COMRADES COUPLE GET THE WEDDING OF THEIR DREAMS

Martin Bester said Joseph’s proposal had a lot of people curious, including him. 

“Prudence told us she said yes and that they want to get married next year. Joe mentioned to us that if someone could come through with a ring, that would really make his week.”

“I told him I will do my best and that is all I needed to say because our morning listeners, our family are just incredibly kind and generous,” said Bester. 

Since his breakfast show on Jacaranda FM this morning, several people have stepped in to give Joseph and Prudence their dream wedding. 

THE HAPPY COUPLE ALSO GETS A HONEYMOON

Apart from an engagement ring, a wedding cake and thank you gifts, Joseph and Prudence will be spoiled with a Valentine’s Day Loveboat Cruise. 

“We have such a king and incredibly generous listeners and I think it gives everyone that warm and hopeful feeling and I love that this happened to such a real couple. Everyone loves a love story with a happy ending like this and it was so special to be involved in this beautiful story.”
