As of 15 October 2022, local independent airline, Airlink, has resumed weekly services to and from the island of St Helena. The beautiful, remote island is now also fully open to visitors, after the government of St Helena had decided to lift all COVID-19 entry regulations from August this year.

This resumption of flights will undoubtedly boost accessibility to the island, allowing travellers to discover the volcanic peaks, protected national parks and world-class diving sites, says Tourism Update.

Matt Joshua, Head of St Helena Tourism said that they were delighted that weekly flights would resume to the island following the suspension during the pandemic.

“St Helena offers the perfect getaway for the post-pandemic traveller looking to escape the crowds and we look forward to meeting the demand from travellers wanting to experience one of the UK’s oldest overseas territories and most remote inhabited islands on the planet.” Joshua said.

So far, St Helena has managed to avoid exposure to the various strains of COVID-19, and currently, 98% of St Helena residents are vaccinated.
